This post is for anyone but particularly Minnesotans.

There seems to be an energy among the state's Republicans that I have never seen here before.  I travel 62 in South Minneapolis quite frequently and I have never seen a Bush sign to speak of.

Tonight there were huge Bush signs everywhere along 62 and highway 100 and I saw zero Kerry signs.  I thought I was in the twilight zone.  That area is probably 60/40 democrat.  And on an overpass were a bunch of Republicans waving Bush signs.

Has anyone seen an increase in Bush support where you live?

Could this be the first Presidential election in 32 years that MN elects a Republican?

Minnesota's demographic trends are among the strongest towards Republicans in the nation.

This state will be closer in 2004 than many posters here think it will be.  Right now, Kerry has a very slight lead, but even if it doesn't go Republican this election, it will continue to grow Republican and probably go that way in 2008 (considering of course who they might nominate).

Not that I am aware of...

He was here last weekend in the Western suburbs of Mpls and drew a large crowd in a neighborhood park.....they estimate the crowd was 15000 to 17000.

I agree.  The polls show a 2-3% Kerry lead and I was starting to believe it.  I think it's closer and I want my vote to count for once!!!

Your vote in MN will count.  My vote in MD won't (unless something weird happens).

Good point.  At least there's a chance in my state.  Guess I shouldn't complain!

Find all the Bush fans in MN and make sure they vote.  As far as me in IL, well I will vote because of the Congressional race, but the only thing my vote for Bush will do is give him one more for the popular vote total.

They'll still count the votes in MD the same as MN.

Yes you can register the same day and all you need is a driver's license.  I think that's crazy!  Recipe for disaster.

That is just so dumb...if you are too lazy to register earlier, you lost your chance in my opinion.  it just opens up opportunities for fraud

I just found out that Bush will be here on Wednesday.  This late in the game, why would he come here if it was locked up?  He was just here.  His internal polling must be showing some positive signs......either that or he just likes us.

Yes I agree it's not fair at all.  Non citizens can vote and you don't even have to live here anymore just come here to vote.

Don't polls have a tendency to underestimate Republican strength in MN?  Didn't they miss by 8pts in 2000?  Didn't Mason-Dixon show Bush tied or ahead?

(These aren't really rhetorical questions, I'm actually curious)

While I agree with you on the Bush visit.... the caveat to that is that Bush was in CA the day before the 2000 election, while Al Gore was holding 1am rallies in FL.

These MN and NJ trips could be just like the Allied Invasion of Norway.

1st question.  No i don't think so Just the star tribune polls
2.  Yes they did
3. Yes but that was a month ago

Bush got 45.5% in 2000, the strongest showing since RR I think and even RR couldn't win.....: (

Minnesota is to Democrats what Virginia is to Republicans.

True VA is trending Dem and MN is trending R, but the margin in MN will be way closer than the margin in VA.

But if you want to use this worthless measure, southwest Minnesota was full of Kerry signs that far outnumbered Bush ones from when I drove through there yesterday. And that's not the most liberal of areas.

As for Bush surging in my city, all I can say is, it's not happening. Consistent with polls which all show Kerry with a steady lead.

Oh, and don't get too excited about the future because at the rate Green Giant is importing Mexican workers and we're bringing Hmong and Somalians that Republican trend is going to end soon. Hopefully this'll cause a white flight and get those suburbanites to leave.

Minnesota is like Pennsylvania...if Bush takes it, it's over.  (Well, by itself it doesn't do it, but I sincerely doubt that Kerry can lose MN and still hold onto both WI & IA).  Call me a heretic, but I think Bush has a better chance in MN than he has in PA.
