Germany's discounter supermarket scene was too cutthroat for Walmart, they cut their losses and left the country.

Hey man, Target is for poor people too, but just those of us who don't want to be reminded about it and wanna walk with some class Smiley

Hell, some of the poorest people shop for groceries and other supplies at some of the most expensive places (cornerstores), it's not all about price.  It's how you want to be treated.

There's a building and it says Wal-Mart on it, but it hasn't been open in 4 years. It should re-open early next year.

Yes there is, (quite a few within a short drive)...I'm still sort of glad about it since its another place to find cheap deals (their dvd multipacks are bargains), but on the other side its such a low class establishment that sucks the life out of local business.

But the cheap dvds are great, so option 1 for now, possibly a lower option later.

Yes, there are Wal-Marts everywhere.  And I'm ever so grateful for them.  Hating Wal-Mart is anti-American and anti-poor.

Since when can't an American dislike their interior decoration and presentation and thus decide to shop elsewhere?

Target is superior not because it's cheaper or more expensive, but because it's a better presentation.

Similarly, even if it's cheaper, I don't advocate buying a 48-pack of Steel Reserve.  At some level you gotta throw down the line.

Option three, though I think there's one in Oakland.

Option 4 - they were going to build, but they decided to build 1 city over (although it's suburbs, so it's not too big of a deal, but it would've brought jobs in) - although there is in Mt. Pleasant, and I normally shop there when I'm up at school.

Option 1:  Wal-Mart may be a cheap place to shop, but I like shopping there and I don't feel "impoverished" for doing so.

I don't know if there are any within the city limits of San Jose. I assume there are, but there's no Wal-Mart within 25 miles.

I agree with everything you say, but poor people should have the right to chose where they shop.  Anti-Wal Mart people are asshats.

Are they? Didn't know that. But there isn't an Asda here either, just a Sainsbury's and a Morrisons.
