The latest news is that Landrieau (sp) and Blance Lincoln will vote Yes to move Healthcare forward tonight in the Senate.
Do you think the Healthcare plan (with or without the Public Option) will pass the senate?

Will a bill pass?  Yes.

Will it be a bill Democrats are really happy about?  No.

Not the Universal Healthcare plan. Senators Bayh, Lincoln, Both Nelsons and Landrieu will be  scared for their careers, so, yea they should be all NAY Votes.

A public option? Maybe. Likely with a trigger or something.

Something? Almost certainly

i'm absolutely positive something will get through.  i don't think it'll look anything at all like the current senate bill, though.

I suspect something will pass, but we're a while from it happening.

I only hope it is something like what Reid and Pelosi have proposed.

I think he is talking about the employer mandates but I'm not sure. I wish we got away from the employer based system but oh well. This is better than nothing.

I'm fairly confident some form of a health care bill will pass, but It won't be the one Obama really wants. I'm more interested in Immigration reform, personally...

If Wyden's amendement passes then it will be a bigger victory than public option.

Yes, though with some differences. Instead of a full-fledged public option, I am almost certain there will be a trigger instead, and Wyden's amendment (which, as I understand, permits employees to shop around on the insurance exchange for other health insurance policies instead of the one their employer offers them) will likely be included in the final bill.

And as for funding this thing -the ephemeral Medicare cuts will, of course (as everyone knows), be repealed after the final health care reform bill is passed and signed into law -if not sooner.

Yes I support the Wyden amendment more than the public option although a public option is also important in bringing down costs imho.

Remind me again why you think the public option will bring down costs again sbane?  In my opinion it will only bring down costs if the option is subsidized, or if it cannibalizes the medical infrastructure, which over time will cause either more costs down the road, or degraded health care, and the end of much privately paid for drug research. The profits of private health insurers based on my research are quite modest, and really does not even fully cover the cost of capital really.

It still remains to be seen if it actually brings down costs. I really don't see how it will "destroy" the insurance companies. Moreover they aren't even allowed to use medicare rates so there is certainly no guarantee it will bring down costs. It may fail and I would have no problems with that. I just think there should be a public option included in the exchange and whoever can provide the better product at a lower cost will win. But like I said, the Wyden amendment seems to be even more important since it is a start to the end of the employer based health care system.

I wonder if he could actually vote for the final bill.....He is retiring after all and doesn't have to worry about the teabaggers.
