FYI my parents met at Helms' 1990 victory party. SO without that I wouldn't exist. Thanks Mechadouche.

That's funny that Gantt and Ernest Hollings are serving togehter in Senate. After all, back in 60s, Hollings as Governor of South Carolina resisted a calls to prevent Harvey Gantt from enroling to the local university.

Hmm...Im pretty intrigued about what you may have in store for the 1992 Election...especially on the Democratic Side, the reason why Clinton didn't choose Governor Douglas Wilder of Virginia on the ticket was that he felt as if putting a Black Man on the ticket would weaken his support amongst the Southern White(Probably Rightfully so). On the other hand , seeing how long and drawn out the '92 Primary Race was there is no gaurantee that Bill gets the nod ITTL. Maybe Gantt's victory inspires Mario Coumo to get off his ass and finally run? Or if Tsongas or Brown gets the nomination then Gantt's chance are much better....Just a couple of ideas I had, can't wait to see what you have cooked up.

Dude Historico, you have no idea how helpful your ideas are right now.
Thank you.

They aren't necessary at all, but they can be a nice touch.

Since I'm unable to count them, I just post who's on lead Wink

Don't worry, this timeline will resume soon. Expect a string of updates after next week once my finals are over.
Trust me, the primaries are going to get INTENSE.

Update the timeline with Alfalfa Bill and Cotton Tom too

Vermont, always known to be independently minded, would vote for Brown by a very small margin over Cuomo. Harkin, like Kerrey, would be a pain in the ass to whoever was running in the Midwest and steal North Dakota.

Yes, I remember Antonio attacking me this summer for Brown defeating Mondale in VT

Epic. It would be really hillarious to see humiliated loser Bush to win in House.

Epic, damn epic.

IMHO, it would be really epic to see Gantt as Vice President and a man who totally f**cker up his re-election bid, Bush of course, to win by squeaker in House, with Cuomo and Perot killing each other.

Keep it coming.

I'll be real honest, I didn't come up with this idea until this morning when I realized that I couldn't think of a realistic scenario where Ross Perot or George HW Bush somehow win the House election (because a straight ticket Democratic victory in Congress would be boring).  What I originally wanted to accomplish was have Gantt win the Vice Presidency and have either Perot or Bush win the Presidency to shake up the Executive Office.  However, I could think of no realistic scenario where Perot could win with Bush still in race, or a scenario where Bush could win unless Republicans were more partisan and gave very few votes to Perot and Bush won the votes of conservative and moderate Democrats.  In other words, the presence of both in the House Election clusterf***ed my map to the point where my self reasoning skills made it impossible for me to envision a scenario where one candidate manages to win 26 or more states.  And then while I was reading the Wikipedia article on the Twelfth Amendment, I found the passage about the Vice President and thought "what the hell?".
Obviously I wanted a result that wasn't predictable.....and I guess I kind of succeeded in that regard.

Well, after all that's Gantt tl.

By the way, I have added a poll asking who you want to see as president.  Whether or not this impacts the course I take is uncertain (I'm trying to think how, in such a polarized environment, someone will finally get elected), but your opinions would be really valuable.

I don't want no one of these bores. Go f**k yourself with such choices.

I WANT PRESIDENT GANTT!!!!

Don't even mind what this mean Vazdul wrote. President Gantt!

I think an interesting way of solving this problem (while maintaining constitutional integrity) would be that the House remains deadlocked until after the 1994 midterms. Acting President Gantt proves to be more popular than Clinton was during his early years, but it's not enough to save the congressional Democrats, who lose control of Congress as in RL. The newly elected House chooses Bush, who proves to be even more of a failure in his second term, and Gantt wins the presidency in 1996.

Now, that is GREAT idea Cheesy
