Clarifications needed on the point moderation system

Dear moderators, posters and David Leip,
I have questions I would like answered. It has come to my attention that points are erased after a 3 month time period. However, I have not seen a specification as to WHICH points are erased after 3 months. Suppose I receive 5 points on Day 1 and 5 points on day 10. On day 90 (3 months), will the 5 points I received on Day 1 be erased or the 10 total points I received in the 90 day time frame. Additionally, how are these points erased after the 3 month period? Is there an automatic system that deducts the points or do we have to rely on moderators to deduct the points-thus opening the window to human error and negligence of one's duties?
These are serious questions and they demand urgent clarification. Please do not hesitate to post answers in this thread or in a private message directed to me.
Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
East Coast Republican
P.S.
This post is totally serious.

The points "expire" 30 days after they are awarded. So, the 5 points from day 1 would be gone on day 91, and the 5 points from day 10 would be gone on day 100. The points leave automatically.

It is very advisable to examine and dissect the men of science for once, since they for their part are quite accustomed to laying bold hands on everything in the world, even the most venerable things, and taking them to pieces.

I gave it to him because I wanted to legitimately answer questions, since I do think there is a lot of confusion about when the points expire.
