To keep it simple - for instance, I doubt that the Northern Republicans of the Reconstruction era would greatly hearken to the Southern Party that is the modern GOP - I will not include Party identifiers, leaving you to deduce them on your own.
Today's election: Woodrow Wilson vs. James Garfield. Discuss with maps.

if the 2008 map is used:
I think Garfield would win each three times. While both were elected in closes elections, Wilson won in 1912 because of two conservative candidates, and he barely won in 1916.Garfield would attack Wilson's racial polices, while Wilson would attack Garfield's lack of high office.
