Yes. For example, do you look at a black getting on an airplane with suspicion of any sort?

Yes.  Islamophobia is the last "mainstream" form of prejudice.

I noticed a lot of far-right politicos who call Obama a Muslim sound a lot like they really want to call him the n-word, but they can't because hating blacks isn't "okay" anymore.

Yeah, my family (Or at least the males), (Save myself), all hate muslims and think that there is a vast islamic conspircacy to conquer Europe and promote the Jihad. Pretty pathetic, and I'' say that 2/3s of Americans buy into this crap.

Lol. Good one, Vepres.

But G, you really need to change the thread title. It's "don't", not "can't". Who you can or should trust is not a question impacted by 9/11 in any way or form. Tongue

(As to the question, absolutely. Islamophobia is just the currently hip style of antisemitism, I like to think. If I were American, I'd probably use "racism" instead, there not apparently being a specific word for (certain) Whites' views and/or treatment of Blacks.)

Can't say I can remember ever encountering Islamophobic thought in my daily life, though I can hardly be said to live in a locale representative of most Americans.

Yes. Alot of my friends are what you would call Islamophobes, as are some members of my family.

Oh I think they'd much rather call him a Muslim than drop the N bomb.....

It's not that big a deal, really. But being black means you're likely to be poor, which is worst of all.
