I can't get my printer to install until I can install my network software, which I can't install until I can install Microsoft .NET 3.5, which I can't install until I can install MSXXL 6.0, which I can't install until I install XP Service Pack 3, which for some reason refuses to install.

For some reason, I can't get Internet Explorer 8 to install either.

And I've got a freaking heart monitor strapped to me and it's making my chest itchy as hell.

Try plugging your heart monitor into your computer and installing that.  It might help, might not, worth a try.

That's what I'm stuck with - but apparently my dad can't access his account statements with IE6.

Have you tried just downloading the install file instead of using Windows Update?  link to Service Pack 3 download

(I'm assuming that works, I can't download it from work it seems)

Fixed.  And this is from someone who used Firefox for over four years.

Admittedly I miss the ad-blocking and a couple of the plugins with Firefox, but the numerous bugs that appeared (including its frequent failure to run Flash files properly) with newer updates caused me to abandon my formerly tried and trusted browser.  Chrome has a lot less bells and whistles, as you'd expect from Google, and that certainly helps.

Yes!  Those are even worse.  I usually have to get assistance to print anything.

I love computers Cheesy I use Linux and I never have to wait for my computer to cooperate with me.

Firefox is ok...I do recall an instance where I got a virus in windows via a Firefox vulnerability. I figure windows is just not fit for my (or anyone's) usage, though I usually use Firefox and Chromium on Linux and I never have any troubles.

Dependencies work much better with something like apt-get or other such Linux installers.

The educational system makes you edgy, cranky and nervous. That's the first use of school and university.

France likes to be an exception then.

Joe, I took your advice and downloaded Chrome........I love it.   Thanks for the tip.

Best,

Yeah - I'm working on it.  It's hard to get out of being edgy and cranky though.
