We don't do Sandy Claws at my house.  I'll take the kids to the store a day or two before christmas and let them pick some crap out.  Nothing will be wrapped.  Christmas is the second most overrated holiday behind Columbus Day.

What I know is that I have a very low opinion of this:



Damn, each time that I had to travel throughout France to go in family for Christmas, I could see that stuffs on a lot of houses these last years.

That's just plain awful. First most of time the stuff is rather shapeless, and sometimes it even seems to be a kind of red and white big bag, thus that's ugly, but more of that, people have the good idea to put it on their house about 2 weeks before and keep it 2 weeks after, so this kind of shapeless stuff easily becomes dirty. And I don't speak of the fact that sometimes the stuff seems to be 'hung' here, charming. And I could also mention the fact that with this image that it gives to Père Noël it contributes to rob the 'magic' aspect of the affair. That beautiful old man finishes as a kind of dirty bag 'hung' on every 4 houses.

And it continues, years after years, people keep this monstruosity, and continue to display it...

Oh Père Noël, mon Père Noël, mais qu'est-ce qu'ils t'ont fait?????

Santa Claus is the single greatest person to ever exist.  He is the ultimate proof for good in the World, and the existence of a Divine Being.  No matter how old, or how non-Christian, a person may be, they should always believe in Santa Claus.

It works.  I did a similar thing to keep my cousins in line a few summers ago - promise them they get $100 if they remain on "The good list" for a whole year - then every time they start acting up - remind them about the good list and tell them they're off the good list now and have to start the year over.  They caught on after a couple years though.
