RFK declines to run in 1968. Nixon still beats Humprey in 1968 and wins reelection over McGovern in 1972. Watergate occurs but Nixon destroys all of the tapes that indicate his invovlement before he is caught. When Spiro Angew resigns over taking bribes in 1973, Nixon pciks John Connally as his new VP, who in turn becomes the Rpeublican nominee in 1976. The Democrats nominate RFK as their candidate in 1976. Everything else (high inflation, oil embargo, Nixon going to China, etc.) occurs as in RL. How would this election turn out? I'm guessing RFK would win since unemployment and inflation were high in 1976, even though it will be close. Discuss, with maps.
