Senators,

I hereby move that the Senate stand in recess beginning December 24th (Christmas Eve) until the opening of the 35th Senate.

As it stands now, the Federal Prudence Bill has the votes to pass.  I believe we can pass the Top Secret Classification Bill before recessing.  This will leave the Financial Regulatory Reform Bill as unfinished business.  This bill addresses some complex issues, and I feel it is appropriate that we hold off on this bill until the Senate regains its full number.

A recess will also render the current election for PPT unnecessary.

Second to this motion?

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, and Happy New Year to all!  Cheesy

Absolutely not.

Complex issues. Thirty minutes on wikipedia is all it takes to know all you need to about the financial bill. It takes effort and dutiful attention to ones duties. This is gross irresponsibility and laziness, I urge all Senators to vote no on this dereliction of duty and negligence to the Atlasian voters.

Chill out, dude.  It's Christmas, people are busy with holiday stuff, and we're down to seven members.  But anyway I don't want to get into an argument over this.

Fully support. I need to be spending time with family and friends, not hunched over a computer all day. Wink

Why is this necessary? For heaven's sake, it's not like this game requires that much time out of you people. You all probably have more spare time now than any other time. Why not recess over the school year? What about Easter? Thanksgiving too, surely. Don't forget Valentine's Day, that's the time to spend with a lover, not on Atlasia!

You can come up with all sorts of rationales for ditching Atlasia for a few days, why pick this time only to recess? Are you guys really that stressed out that the first thing you do after the election is call off work?

For the record, I fully support a motion to recess for the last week of the session. The GM's Office is even taking a break so it's not like we'll be missing things. I personally will have zero computer access while visiting relatives from the 24th-27th and Dean afleitch, among other members, has hinted that he'll have similarly limited access. Besides, something just doesn't seem right about doing business with 30% of the Senate being vacant.

Just to get the matter of whether we'll be recessing or not resolved quickly, I'm construing Hashemite's support as a second and thus I'll open a vote.

Note that I stand by the Senate entirely, whatever they decide in this vote.

Senators, please vote aye, nay, or abstain on the following motion. A simple majority is required for passage.

Because of the expedient nature required here, I'm waiving the 24 hour wait period upon completion of the vote.

Any bills that are still on the floor when recess starts will still be there in the same form at the beginning of the next session Smiley Apologies also that I'm kind of improvising with the rules here; feel free to challenge me if you feel that your rights are being slighted, but I'm just trying to do the best I can given the pressing nature of this issue and the lack of existing Senate procedure on the matter.

I am objecting to this on the grounds that it violates the OSPR.

As I have cast a vote against this piece of legislation, the 24 hour waiting period is thus required.

Fair enough- initially I made that declaration because I didn't think this was considered a piece of legislation. I suppose this would count as a procedural resolution, however, which is considered as such by the senate rules- my mistake.

Take note, Senators: there will indeed be a 24 hour waiting period after this motion has the votes to pass.

A symbolical Nay.

Does Atlasian workers are stopping to work now? No.

Actually, almost everyone in the country gets Christmas off, I'm pretty sure. In the United States even (with more conservative labor laws than Atlasia!) practically nobody has to work except those with essential jobs (emergency room doctors, power plant operators, etc). I'd estimate that at least 90% of the country doesn't work on Christmas.

What about 364 or 363. Lets recess for Christmas, then come back immediately afterwards till New Years then recess till the end of the term on the 3rd or 4th(which is by the way?)
