No, Illinois is earlier. IL holds its primaries in the first week of February.

No, Illinois is earlier. IL holds its primaries in the first week of February.

IL set the first Tuesday in Feb back in 2007 to aid Obama on Super Tuesday. IL couples its presidential primary to its general partisan primaries, so those moved up as well. Since the 2007 law did not affect 2008 only, the primary date remains for 2010. It will be interesting to see how IL reacts if there is a formal setting of the national primary calendar by the major parties for 2012.
