Today marks 175 years since January 8th 1835; the only day in its entire history that the United States had zero national debt.

175 years later, the national debt is currently estimated at nearly $14.5 trillion, which equates to about 98% of our GDP.

Not really. Some amount of debt is normal for a modern country, and we've had a national debt from during the revolution until today, with the only pause being the date that Joe created this thread to celebrate.
