Former Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska has signed on as a contributor to the Fox News Channel.

The network confirmed that Ms. Palin will appear on the network’s programming on a regular basis as part of a multi-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Ms. Palin will not have her own regular program, one person familiar with the deal said, though she will host an occasional series that will run on the network from time to time. This person would not elaborate, but the network does have a precedent for such a series. Oliver L. North is the host of an occasionally running documentary series on the military called “War Stories.”

Many suspected that when Ms. Palin retired as the governor of Alaska last summer she was doing so to pursue some sort of career in television. The Fox News deal, however, would not seem to be all encompassing, and would appear to give her room for other pursuits, as well.

The deal could be formally announced as early as this afternoon. Robert Barnett, Ms. Palin’s attorney, did not respond to a call for comment.

This will be a ratings boom for them.......no doubt.

MSNBC and CNN will be crying their eyes out and railing against it but they wish they had her.

God I hate Fux News........but they're well run.

Palin would just turn off viewers who aren't already watching Fox.

Actually no, she would bring in listeners who would watch Fox just to hear how f***ing crazy she is. Believe me, everytime I go over to my Brazillian friends' apartment they always watch Glenn Beck just to laugh at how crazy and psychotic he sounds so they can have a good laugh. I would bet that a good deal of the so-called "Fox audience" is a bunch of non-conservatives who are watching it for a good laugh or to use it against conservatives when it comes to media bias.
For a good example of this go on Youtube and search for a user by the name of Liberal Viewer.

Maybe I'm odd among liberals, but I don't even find Palin amusing. I mean the Couric interview was, but not everything she says is, it's mostly just poorly argued generic talking points. I see Palin as nothing more than an idiot who should be entirely ignored, unless Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, Beck, etc. who might provide a few laughs.

Yeah Palin is kind of a dumb, but just having the opportunity to see her drop into the nether regions of fail would be enough incentive for me to watch her make an ass of herself on national tv.

Exactly.  Fox News is the best at the business, people need to realize that.  Everything they do is on purpose and they're very good at it.  Much better than CNN or the others.  They've got a solid audience that they play to brilliantly and that's "real America".  They've hit the jackpot with Palin, adding to their arsenal of Huckabee, O'Reilly, Hannity, etc.  Well done.  The only thing I don't like is how seriously people take the news, which really is just another form of entertainment.  Arguing or getting mad about it is the equivalent of reacting that way to Jersey Shore.

It was only a matter of time.  She'll get her own TV show at some point or another too.

That's the thing, Palin isn't amusing to me. She's boring.

the problem is that a majority of people do not realize it for what it is, and see it as a legitimate news source, leading to widespread misinformation.  perhaps they are duped by the 'FOX News' logo in the bottom corner.  (not to single out FOX, they are just the most egregious offender)

I bet it's just a joke, much like the modern day "conservative" movement.

How utterly unsurprising.

Maybe if Fox hires Romney the two of them, along with Huckabee, can announce the 2012 results in real time.

Good for her. Even though this probably decreases the chances she'll run against Obama in 2012. I want to see her lose in a massive landslide so badly.
