I'd say Yes, as the Gubernatorial race is one where he might actually win, in contrast to the Senatorial race, which he will now lose. The question is will he?

He will have a better chance of beating Ned Lamont than Blumenthal.

Courtney will easily defeat him, even in a bad year for Democrats.

Yea, winning CT-02 in the first place in 2000 was a fluke. Winning it back now will be impossible.
He should switch to the Governor's race.

He'd have a better shot at winning an office if he switched to Governor, but he should stay in the U.S. Senate race. Connecticut voters deserve a choice between two solid candidates.

Ya, and he can close the gap over time if things go well for him and if he runs his campaign smartly...

He wont switch to the Gubernatorial race. Regardless of how well he was doing against Dodd, he would have a large uphill battle against Fedele for the nomination. I suspect if he doesnt run for Senate, he would drop out, and wait to see if Fedele asks him to run for Lt. Governor. It would be a wise choice, since they would be able to balance out support from both sides of the state.

And that is why he should not switch to Gubernatorial race.
