When someone kills a pregnant woman they get charged for double homicide (for killing the woman and the baby). However, when a woman gets an abortion to kill her own baby, that is considered OK. Is this a hypocricy/double standard?

I'd say Yes.

Women don't kill any "baby" when they have an abortion.

I voted yes as it isn't "double homicide" if you kill a pregnant woman.

It is a double standard, because I don't believe a fetus to be a living person.

Double Standard.

Can't switch from pro-choice to pro-life because of framing effects and be intellectually consistent.

No.  People get charged with double-homicide for killing a pregnant woman because it's her choice whether or not to abort, not some guy with a gun.  There is no "double standard."

Yes.  I firmly believe that life begins at conception, not when the baby comes out of the womb.  So, a healthy baby is already 9 months old by the time it is delivered.

What makes it OK for her to kill her baby and not for some other guy to do it? Just because it is her baby does not mean she has the right to kill it.

Actually, the fact that the fetus is incapable of surviving without the aid of the mother, that makes it the mother's choice.

I would say a large majority of people believe that late term abortions are wrong unless the life of the mother is at risk, because the baby would conceivably survive without extraordinary medical intervention.

So when does a fetus become viable?  I don't know the answer.  I'm not a doctor.

At the moment, I think we should only charge the suspect with the murder of the mother.
