Will Obama win the white vote in 2012?

By win, I mean a plurality, not necessarily a majority. For reference, whites voted for McCain 55-43 in 2008. 

I'd say No. I just don't see a 6-7% swing to Obama among whites occuring unless the GOP nominates a really bad candidate.

If Obama declines to run and Mark Warner wins the Democratic Nomination, he'd probably have an outside chance of winning the white vote.

The south brings down the Democratic numbers considerably, since there are several states where the white base tops at about 25% for the Democrats and only under the best of circumstances. He would have to win the white vote outside the south by a considerable margin, maybe 55-45%.

He'd stand a chance against Palin, and I'd say would be favored to win the white non-Southern vote against most people. The South is the only reason the white vote seems so unwinnable.
