There are two basic possibilities and both are highly disturbing; Willie Loman With Added Fail or the World's Most Disturbingly Obsessive Troll.

Let the job search begin...
I failed the call so miserably that before I could even log into the phones today, I was told to get my stuff, hand over my badge, my headset, and my locker key. I think it's because of my Tourette's personally. So, now, I am back home on CareerBuilder and in the Sunday paper.
Buckle up, everybody, here we go again!!!
Sorry it didn't work out, but can't say I didn't see this coming from a mile away.

Guy just lost his job. Cut him a break. Bushie, I saw on facebook that you want to wait until after christmas to look for a job. DO
NOT
do this. Aside from losing a few weeks worth of income and spending, a lot of retail places are hiring seasonal employees for the holidays. You never know. If they like you, it could turn into something more permanent. Also, trusting in God to get you through this is not going to suffice either. You must take responsibility for your own job search. I know the situation blows, but you must take charge of your life.

People are really laughing at him for losing his job? Wow. You guys are the definition of low lives.
I saw something on Facebook about people sending him encouraging words. I didn't know what happened. Sorry to hear it, Jeff.

Wow. Not only is your claim that God can/will help offensive but you choose this place and this time to call it "BS?" Classy.
Don't agree with us about God? That's nice. Do us a favor and say so respectfully at the proper time and place.

There's a difference between disagreeing with his religion and what Franzl and I are talking about. I have no problem with him going to church or believing in God. If that makes him happy, sure, whatever, it doesn't hurt him or anyone. But believing that you don't have to take responsibility for yourself or accurately assess your situation because God will give you a bail out if things get really bad, and being told that over and over by your friends and family, is dangerous and counter-productive.

I don't think Jeff thinks he doesn't have to do anything. This guy has put so much effort into a lot of things in his life. I think that's obvious. If he thought God would handle everything for him, we wouldn't hear about all of the interesting and risky ventures he was pursuing.
Franzl's problem isn't what you mentioned, by the way. He specifically called the idea of God guiding someone "BS." That's wrong.

Saying that God will guide you through unemployment is merely an indirect way of avoiding responsibility for yourself.
It's like having a big history test and praying all night rather than studying. God will most certainly not allow you to pass the test without proper preparation.

Maybe. Maybe the reason he pursues risky ventures is because he believes that God will have his back if he fails.

Look at page 2 of that thread (I
can't quote it because it's locked.) Note the advice he takes from his father that you sometimes have to take a leap of faith and let God guide you (or something equally idiotic).
This supports Lief's conclusion that unnecessary, dangerous risks are taken because he believes God will take care of him.

Can still copy & paste:
"My parents are warming to this idea, as well, and my Dad said sometimes you just have to step out on faith and let the Lord take care of you. This is a big leap, but I've been getting increasingly unhappy with ONG over the last few months and my bank account is struggling."

Even I, someone who's been to church a grand total of maybe 10 times, knows that the meaning of "God will get me through this" is massively abused. I've always interpreted it is meaning that having faith will keep you grounded through tough times, not that no matter what you do, he'll magically make everything better. I think that's the idea Franzl and Lief have and I completely agree. It's an easy escape from responsibility and what you should really be offended by, Phil, is his abuse of the work of your God. It's embarrassing even to me when people actually think he would bother with petty things like a lost job. It's a bizarre display of what I see as delusions of grandeur.
