maybe the PR war has been won but that doesn't change the law.  Until Congress acts otherwise we will unfortunately be left with the current ridiculous policies.

Wonderful. So I guess someone dying with cancer because he can't afford health insurance at least has one thing to be happy about.

At least he can smoke his troubles away now.

That's great, though Padfoot is right that we have to see Congress take action. Repealing DADT is wildly popular & they are nevertheless slow as molasses when it comes to doing that.

Excellent, though it's sad there can't be this amount of support for legalising marihuana altogether.

Not if Gary Johnson is the next Republican presidential nominee.

And what do you suppose the probability of that happening is?

They were fast as hell when it came to giving billions to failed business men.  Repeatedly.

I think a better course of action would be to repeal federal drug laws, and leave the decision up to the various states.  Where in the fucking Constitution is Congress given the power to regulate drugs?  Oh right, the Commerce Clause and the "General Welfare" Clause, which obviously mean Congress can do whatever the fuck it wants.

I'll consider this debate over when every nonviolent "offender", in jail or on trial for victimless crimes, is given a full pardon by an appropriate authority figure. This is an issue that goes far beyond medical/recreational marijuana. This issue, at least from my perspective, is about authoritarianism and the ability of a populous to fend it off.

True, but gays and potheads aren't exactly lining the campaign coffers.

I believe homos give a lot to the Dems.  (and get very little in return....well, lip service.  There is a joke in there somewhere.)
