Here's the letter he sent everyone including the FBI. The first person that it is directed to is the California Attorney General, Jerry Brown, hardly a disinterested party.

Looks fun.

I would have taken that offer if I were Steve Poizner, though.

Doesn't this kind of thing happen all the time? Poizner just sounds kind of whiny.

Yeah, REALLY whiny. Grow a pair and suck it up, Steve.

I'm mostly surprised by how genuinely friendly the email sounds.  Some serious straw-grasping going on there.

Poizner jumped the shark on this one. The Whitman email just said, hey let us stop wasting money on this primary (our own money actually since we are both self financing, although the email did not say that), and you drop out Steve, and I will see to it that you get funding in your next election race. And Poizner thinks that amounts to the crime of something or other. I used to think Poizner was a sane and prudent and intelligent man. I am going to have to tack now on that opinion.

As an aside, all the lawyers in my office were really shaking our heads about this one.

I can't imagine context in which that email could logically be considered objectionable let alone wholly outrageous.
