Assume that the federal govt. and J.P. Morgan do not intervene when the Panic of 1907 occurs, and thus unemployment in 1908 is 13% instead of 8%. William Jennings Bryan makes a big deal out of the poor economy and attacks Teddy Roosevelt and Taft for ruining the U.S. economy and the lives of ordinary Americans. Mind making a map, please? I would post my own later. I think that Roosevelt's populairty would have severely declined if unemployment was at that level, though, and considering Bryan also had charisma while Taft did not, I think Bryan would pull off a narrow victory.
