Hey...Let's say, Ann Richards got an earlier shot of the Governership, running against Mark White in the Primaries instead of just the State Treasurier. Her happy, ebulient style of campaign wins out against the ancient Bill Clements allowing her to enter the office in 1983, narrowly winning a second term in '86. She would be in the special "6th year" for Governor's to make a run for the Presidency. With her populist message, she is able to best Dukakis and Jackson for the nomination and selects former Astronaut, Senator John Glenn of Ohio as her running mate.
So does Poor George still pull of a victory?
