Recently, someone i know said that if he were Prime Minister of the UK, the following would be his main policies:

1. Remove all Islamic Fundermentalists from the UK.
2. Make sure that English is everyone's first language.
3. Sentence all convicted murders, terrorists, rapists, peadophiles, granny bashers, etc to the death penalty after an 18-month conviction period.
4. Close all borders.

I oppose them all. This paranoia that the English language is going to die, and needs some laws to stamp out language competition, is ludicrous. Yes, I do believe that secondary schools should be in English (to give kids a much better chance to move into the economic mainstream), but in the end, within a couple of generations, most immigrants can no longer speak their native language in any event.

Surprisingly enough, this guy doesn't support the BNP, or any political party. He supports giving full control back to the royal family, with Prince William as the King....

You cannot "make sure" that English is everyone's first language because language does not work like that. You also have the problem that in certain parts of the country, certain other languages are the dominant first language and have been for a very, very long time...

...besides, most children of immigrants not only speak basically only English, but they speak it with the local accent. As anyone who's ever been to Birmingham or Bradford could tell you/him.

That'd surprise me; certainly, Irish is only spoken habitually in  a small portion of the island, and monolingually nowhere.
