This is a man that "served" a very poor part of the country... but really only served himself.

You know, I've been pretty damn critical of Murtha in life, but this is the first I heard that he didn't direct tons of money to his district in a way that provided a living for thousands of people, directly or indirectly. Yes, he wasted some of that money, and yes, he was corrupt--but it's even more than that to claim he didn't at least run a massive welfare operation for a dying city. I've read newspaper articles about all the businesses in Johnstown that flourished because he channeled federal money through the place. Again, there's plenty to criticize about that, but it wasn't like all the money stopped with him as it does with many Republican and Democratic legislators who have shifted similar funds purely to defense contractors.
