12:07 A.M. - Emergency sirens have activated in major cities throughout Israel.  This measure doesn't do much good; the people have no time to escape.

12:08 A.M. - There are 12 Missiles.  12 missiles are fired at the missiles by the United States Aegis Missile Defense System.  Three of the Navy's missiles find their targets.  The remaining 8 missiles continue toward Israel.  Israel's missile defenses are the final defense.

12:09 A.M. - The missiles will be in range for Israel interception at 12:11 A.M.  The last chance to intercept will be at 12:13 A.M.  The Iranian missiles are estimated to strike at 12:15.

12:10 A.M. - The Iranian missiles enter Syrian airspace.

12:11 A.M. - Israeli missiles are prepared to intercept the ICBMs.  Twelve missiles are fired at the 8 ICBMs.

Three of the missiles hit.  There are now 5 ICBMs remaining.

12:12 A.M. - Fifteen Israeli missiles are fired at the 5 ICBMs.  Only three hit.  There are still two ICBMs left.

12:13 A.M. - In a last ditch effort to prevent the missiles from reaching Israel, the remaining thirteen missiles in the Israeli missile defense system are fired.  However, the ICBMs are accelerating and lowering their elevation.  Only two of the ICBMs are hit.  One is still bound for Israel.

12:14 A.M. - Twenty Israeli ICBMs are fired at Iran.  The Iranian ICBM is now out of range for any missile defense systems.

12:15 A.M. - The city of Ashdod, Israel's industrial capitol and home to 210,000 is hit by a nuclear ICBM.

You should reread your post. Supposably three of your ICBMS magically rebuilt themselves in midair after being destroyed by the American fleet.

12:16 A.M. - An explosion twice the size of the one in New York City has occurred in Ashdod.

12:17 A.M. - Aegis systems prepare to shoot down any more nuclear missiles that are heading toward Israel.

12:19 A.M. - The Prime Minister of Israel says Iran will burn tonight.

12:21 A.M. - Iranian Missile Defense Systems are preparing to intercept Israeli missiles.  The Iranian Defense System is relatively new, and less advanced than Israel's or the Aegis System.

12:22 A.M. - In a surprising move, the United States' Aegis System fires missiles at the Israeli ICBMs.  They only target the missiles that are bound for high population areas.  They bring down four of the ICBMs.  The call is made by President Clinton herself.

12:22 A.M. - Iran fires fifty missiles to intercept Israeli ICBMs.  Their missiles fail miserably, and only seven of the ICBMs are taken down.

12:23 A.M. - The cities of Tehran, Shiraz, Ardabil, Zanjan, and five of Iran's nuclear facilities are struck by Israeli ICBMs.

12:24 A.M. - The United States media reports the nuclear strikes in the Middle East.

12:26 A.M. - President Clinton announces that the United States is now at DEFCON 1.

12:31 A.M. - President Hu Jintao and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin say that Israel will come to severely regret their decision to attack Iran's residential areas.

12:34 A.M. - Indian troops continue their march toward Islamabad.

Well, first off, I don't think the US would shoot down Israeli ICBM's after they just got attacked. But whatever.

There will be consequences for doing it, both positive and negative.  But think about it.  They saved millions of innocent lives.  Literally millions.

No, I think it's interesting.  I'd urge you to keep going.

Just one silly question though:  The timestamps in your timeline....what timezone is that?  US Eastern time?

They are all US Eastern time.  So what's going on in the Middle East is happening during the early morning hours.

I believe you are from Australia.  What is happening is taking place in the morning; anywhere from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.

Positive: I do too. Lets see what happens.

Idea: Clinton gets emergency powers and extends her term?

Criticism: With nukes flying and NYC gone...the US would be in DEFCOM 1...I think the murder of millions of citizens qualifies as that...

In general, I suppose.  I thought the same thing when I first read yours.

However, if you want to get technical, the background to my India/Pakistan conflict began on 2/21.  Your's began on 2/27...Wink

Nah, the Pakistan/India issue is a pretty big one...It's bound to explode eventually.

12:41 A.M. - President Hu Jintao of China announces China will consider all options before following any path in this time of crisis.  However, he condemns Israel's move, saying that while Iran was targeting an industrial capitol of Israel, Israel was purely out for blood.  Israel quickly counters, saying that the ICBMs shot down were bound for major residential areas.

12:58 A.M. - President Hillary Clinton releases a statement announcing that the United States will invade Pakistan full scale.

1:42 A.M. - US troops begin heading into Pakistan in massive numbers from Afghanistan.

I'm going to start going more long term again.  No more updates by the day, probably by the week.  Eventually, it'll move back up to one month per post.

January 6, 2013 - Russia says that they will give aid to Iran, but will not mobilize troops at this time.  China takes a similar stance, but also promises military assistance to Iran if United States and Israeli forces do not halt their attacks.

January 7, 2013 - Senator John R. Thune is found dead in the ruins of the Waldorf-Astoria hotel.  A crisis soon arises as to who will become President.  The Congress announces that the House will vote for the new President on January 9, and the Senate will vote for the new Vice President on January 12.  The vote is open; anyone could in theory be elected.

Senate: 51 Democrats, 48 Republicans, 1 open
House:  224 Democrats, 211 Republicans

January 8, 2013 - Indian troops are still fighting their way towards Islamabad.  United States troops have captured several cities on the Iranian coast of the Persian Gulf.  President Clinton has asked Israeli officials to back off their attacks on Iran, saying that the people of Iran support the fall of the theocracy, but not an Israeli occupation.

January 9, 2013 - The House prepares to vote for the new President.

In my next post, I will go over this election.  The main candidates are President Hillary Clinton (D), Senator Bill Nelson (D), Former Governor Tim Pawlenty (R), and several other dark horse candidates.  218 votes or a majority at the end of voting are required to become the next President.

No, he also died at the Waldorf-Astoria.  They were both at a banquet.

So, you managed to come up with a convoluted scenario in which a president remains in office for another term despite having just lost re-election? Wink

Wait, doesn't the House Speaker automatically become president, and whoever he/she selects as VP becomes VP (w/ Senate confirmation)?

(Granted, the House could elect whoever they want as Speaker, regardless of whether she's actually a House member.)

No.  If the President-Elect and Vice President-Elect cannot take office, the Congress votes for their replacements.

I'm gonna start a new TL soon, starting in 1892 and continuing to today.  This was my first TL, and I'm losing interest.  I'm probably gonna speed it up.

January 10, 2013 - Disgruntled voters hold protests throughout the United States.  There are overwhelming calls for Clinton's resignation, calling the election a fraud.  Clinton's approval rating drops rapidly.  Soon, these protests have turned into full scale riots.  Several State Capitols are stormed, and the National Guard is called into many US cities.  Soon, the world is likening the election to the 2009 elections in Iran.

January 11, 2013 - Hu Jintao is quoted as saying that China will side with Iran militarily if the United States continues their Invasion.  Meanwhile, it is revealed that both Ayatollah Khamenei and President Ahmadinejad both perished in the bombing of Tehran.  These reports along with reports of riots have been suppressed by the Iranian government, although it is not even known who is leading the nation.

January 12, 2013 - Voting in the Senate for a new Vice President is held.  The most popular candidate is Bill Nelson, although Scott Brown, Russ Feingold, and Eric Cantor are also mentioned as possibilities.

With 99 Votes In:

47:  Scott Brown
34:  Bill Nelson
17:  Russ Feingold
1:  Eric Cantor

The Republicans had learned their lesson from several days earlier; if the party had stood together Tim Pawlenty would have been President.  However, a conflict over Nelson and Feingold allowed the Republicans to unite and vote in Senator Scott Brown to become the Vice President-Elect.

The riots throughout America begin to die down after Brown wins the election.
