I won't argue that what he did was against the rules, but Kalwejt's contributions to the What-If board are invaluable and to put him on a ban, probation, or even mod review would have a grave effect on our what-if board.

Seconded a thousand times.

I think a good punishment would be that he has to have Mitt Romney in his sig for a year.

Then he should have an R-MA avatar for a year and "Romney For President" as his display name, in conjunction.

Actually, I really like the idea of Kaljew taking a R-MA avatar and a "Romney 2012" display name.  It'd be something he could do to show how sorry he was.  It's like the Scarlet Letter Laws: remember the Curb Your Enthusiasm episode where Larry David had to wear a sandwich board saying "I steal forks from restaurants?"  Same principle.

Sorry about my mean comment Xahar. It was angry, thoughtless, abrasive, filthy, vulgar, and rude.

But still: YOU SUCK.

Agreed. I also insist he should have a picture of Romney in his sig.

Is it possible to create an avatar that is Romney's face and have Kalwejt sport it?

People with value shouldn't be punished as harshly as the worthless?  Like rich people doing less time for the same crime than a poor person?

Banning.......no joke or wise ass comment........banning.

You're a real bastard you know?

You just noticed?  Wink

Seriously though, Mr. Leip and the mods are rightfully on a jihad against trolls and socks and the last thing we needs is someone fucking up the good work they're doing.

One law for all, even those I like. First strike mod review; second strike probration; third strike banning. This is second offense of this nature, so a probation period lasting for as long as the sock was active seems appropriate.

If he had not confessed and we had to find out his chicanery for ourselves, then a ban would be called for.

Given that he has confessed, that mitigates his punishment somewhat, but does not mean he should get off scot free.

I think an extended period of mod review (or even probation) would be reasonable.

Only if you correlate wealth with value as a person.

I say banning, just because he's annoying and basically a troll anyway, his "humor" is very contrived and unfunny and his Political Compass score is so blatantly contrived it's hilarious.
