I think you are doing better and better over time myself. Just putting up some substantive posts that show you are a thoughtful person helps a bunch (e.g., you just put up a post on Wilson that I thought was most excellent, even though I don't agree with some of it; I think it was you anyway). Eschewing starting new threads unless you really think it is warranted is also I think a good idea. Less is more. And finally, to the extent you can just say no to being an interlocutor in the "kid" flame wars around here is a good discipline to try to effect indeed. JMO of course. Smiley

Bring your posts/day down into the 10-20 range and find a way to discern when people are being facetious.

You're not a bad poster, in my opinion, but the post-padding and general cluelessness is irksome.

I also don't think that you're really seventeen.

This is an excellent suggestion.

And Roch, I really have appreciated some of the threads you have started.  I think you would go a long way toward improving things for yourself and all of us by asking yourself, "Has this 'opinion of' thread been done recently".  For example, we've have plenty of "Opinion of FDR" and "Opinion of GWB" threads to last a good long while.  If someone re-emerges in the news, as GWB has done by way of his Haiti philanthropy, then it might be better to simply posit the question -- ""What do you think of GWB's effort to help Haiti"?  Or something along those lines.

I have to say, I am encouraged that you asked.

Post analysis and stop posting empty thoughts that no one in the world would find even remotely worthwhile of reading.  Quoting someone else's post is useless, no one cares if you agree with someone else but have nothing to say.  Posting "Obama will choose Biden to be his Vice President again." for the entire content of your post says nothing people care about unless you have established a biography of providing more substantive analysis so that your succinctness itself becomes meaningful.

My advice?

F*** what other people think of you. The truth is no matter what you do there will always be somebody who acts like a hurt little bitch towards you pardner, no matter how hard you try. Your best bet is to try not to freak out on them, build up an air of civility, and hope for the best.

Dude, at your current posting rate, you'll have overtaken me in a few weeks, and I've been an active poster for close to 2.5 years.  Less quantity, more quality.

post less for one.

Also, in your what-ifs posts, almost every single one has the phrase "good economy" in it. Roll Eyes

I don't think I use the phrase that frequently. If I do, it is almost always relevant to the election and in trying to get my point across.

If it's not that phrase, then it's "bad economy" or " (insert percentage point) unemployment.)

I'm just trying to give more details about my scenarios. What's wrong with that?

Because it usually points out the obvious. It's fine, just makes your posts lack variety.

I'm sorry for making my posts redundant. I'll try not to do that.
