Probably the first female who had a legitimate shot at the top spot. Beyond that, neutral.

"Surely these are sufficient reasons to make it clear to the American people that it is time for a change and that a Republican victory is necessary to the security of this country. Surely it is clear that this nation will continue to suffer as long as it is governed by the present ineffective Democratic Administration.
Yet to displace it with a Republican regime embracing a philosophy that lacks political integrity or intellectual honesty would prove equally disastrous to this nation. The nation sorely needs a Republican victory. But I don't want to see the Republican Party ride to political victory on the Four Horsemen of Calumny -- Fear, Ignorance, Bigotry and Smear."

Too liberal to be a FF, I voted HP. But she did make history, and I respect that and her.

She was a brilliant woman....and that one decision certainly doesn't discredit her.

So FDR is discredited because he sent hundreds of thousands of Japanese-Americans to internment camps, many of whom died there? Or for sending hundreds of thousands of Americans to be killed in WWII?

That was a just war, unlike Vietnam. The Japanese internment isn't excusable, but those that died in the camps did so of natural causes, they weren't death camps.

BRTD, John Kerry also supported the Iraq War, a war I would also rate as unjust. Many people have died as a result of that war....does that discredit John Kerry as well? Or is it different because he's a liberal Democrat from MA that ran against Bush?

His vote was wrong but he wasn't voting to just attack, he wanted more leverage to force Iraq to allow weapons inspectors in. Now it's stupid to think that Bush would've acted as such but still different. Also he turned against the war. I mean all but two Senators voted for the Gulf of Tonkin resolution, including George McGovern, but that doesn't mean McGovern didn't change for the better.
