What year? Also, a little background information would be much appreciated.

There's no way Lincoln and Landrieu win, but...

What year?  Background?

2008:

Governor of Vermont running with an unknown State Senator from Mass, in a toxic environment for Republicans? No chance. Republicans spurn the ticket, or simply don't bother to show.

I'm probably being generous with ME-02 and NH. (I also meant to paint NC a more solid red.)

Alright, let's try 2012.

Obama gets taken down by a scandal, leaving an open field for the Dems in which Lincoln makes a comeback.

Gay sex scandal.

So the Democrats nominate two Southern moderates to try to rebuild their image.

I'm ignoring the gay Obama crap...How about he gets sick of Washington and doesn't run...Leaves with a pretty bad economy etc.; it's still a work in progress.

Uh huh, so basically there is no re-alignment whatsoever despite both parties nominating very different candidates compared to what they've been nominating in recent years?

in 2012, Lincoln will probably not even be Senator anymore.

If Obama leaves office with the country in horrible shape, then the GOP would make inroads in the North and probably hold the South narrowly in this scenario, unless a third candidate emerged.

Assuming neither one changes positions during the primary.

Douglas/Brown (R) - 54% - 506 EVs
Lincoln/Landrieu (D) - 42% - 32 EVs
Other - 4% - 0 EVs

Lincoln is an ass clown and Douglas would wipe the floor with her. The other 4% is mostly a conservative candidate running in opposition to the two "librul" candidates.

Well, in all honestly, I didn't want to be called a hack...

Here's my honest opinion:

Douglas/Brown would absolutely tears Lincoln/Landreiu to shreds. It would look like 1956.
