I would hope that if a substantial majority say stop around here, that those who are into these kinds of polls respect that. If not, so be it.

And yes, I have "voted" before in these polls. My bad, and upon reflection, will do so no longer. Frankly, I am kind of ashamed for doing so.

I think they should be less frequent. But we are allowed to have freedom of typing. Tongue Fun is fun.
But if you get all Hp's then your feeling might be a liwle bit hurt.

I hate those threads.  I once wrote a poll "Opinion of Opinion Polls" in which I railed against them.  Of course, the moment I said I was glad people never make them about me, because I don't like that sort of attention, someone (Smid) made one about me.

I generally try not to post in those threads except in notable circumstances.

I like them because they give me a covert opportunity to express my opinion of people. Smiley

Isn't it more fun to make it through subtle rhetoric that moderately disguises your disdain?

No, although certain people should be polled less frequently.

Lunar might be the biggest FF on the forum, why should I be denied the right to say that as loudly as I want?

Obviously, polls of popular posters are not much of an issue. But is it really productive to bash unpopular posters in a poll mode? It can hurt folks (bear in mind that we have a young cohort by and large here, not a bunch of olds who can in general perhaps more easily handle it in general), and would not it be better just to engage in exchanges on ideas in individual posts, and let folks make their own judgment as to who is persuasive, or who is in touch with objective facts, and who is not?

Anyway, that is my opinion.

By the way, it would be interesting here to get the input of those posters who have been on the short end of the stick in these polls. Maybe they enjoy the attention, but maybe they find it otherwise, or it is more of a split decision on these matters.  And I hope their input would be taken seriously here. We are all human, and with emotions, and my hope is that we would try to bear that in mind a bit more.

The Golden Rule is a powerful one in my mind.

My only problem is when people don't put a name by their HP vote.

Torie, the internet is like recess in grade school.  If you have any kind of fault, all the other kids are going to rail on you about it.  If you are different than the majority, you're going to take sh**t for it.  If you say stupid sh**t all the time, people are going to make fun of you about it.  If you never shut up, people are going to tell you to shut the hell up.  The only thing missing are the bad playground fights, the stinky kid (he's here, we just don't know who he is, probably Ziggy) and kickball.

I'd prefer it if any polls using the FF/HP dichotomy would stop.

Voted yes. I know it's traditional and posting allows one to moderate/explain their vote, but these are still two extreme categories to label someone even in an on-line poll. Frankly very few of us truly fit either category (especially HP).

The humor is in how extreme the dichotomy is.

Yes. However, I would support continuing making these polls about politicians, celebrities, and other famous figures.
