It's the party out of power who goes first in an election year. Probably July or August, which would be miserably hot for Florida.

The date is already set.  It will be during the last week in August.

Largest venue so far for a convention, according to the local news here.

I want it to happen in a very liberal city so that the GOP can portray the dems as extremists or have it in NYC so we can bring up 9/11!

I'm so glad my hometown isn't big/cool enough for a political convention. I can't imagine anything more nauseating coming to town.

Probably Tampa, followed by Salt Lake City.

I wish Salt Lake didn't have the implications it does, because it's a great city that should definitely host an event like this.

I think Tampa is a decent choice, but I think Miami would be better. I'd also like to see St. Louis, San Antonio, Pittsburgh, Seattle and Nashville/Memphis get consideration for a convention. Atlanta would be a place that I think is due for another one.

There was a Facebook group for awhile trying to lure the DNC to Memphis, but I don't think it's been that effective.

Personally, I'd love to see it go there. It's one of the few big cities I've been to multiple times (when I've gone to visit family in Arkansas) and one of my favorite places to be (although the whole humidity thing is a pest at times Wink ). I got to see the Peabody Ducks there last summer.
