For me, I'll say that it died right around '98 via Catdog. I consider roughly 1991-1995 to be the "golden age". I could probably even broaden it to be from 1989-1997...

The last option, for it was stillborn in my heart.  I never really cared for Nickelodeon, except for the old black and white shows on Nick-at-Nite in the early 1990s, such as Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore.  Other than that, I never really watched the channel.

I have never watched it in my life. What is it?

Children's TV network, founded in the late 80s.

Stopped watching it in the mid-90s.  I have to say, the Nostalgia Critic is a lot harsher on it than I would've been looking back on it: he trashed that show on the ranch, whatever it was called.  I mean, sure he was right that it was a stupid sitcom where absolutely nothing happened that happened to be set on a ranch, but...it was on a ranch!  I loved that sh**t when I was young!

EDIT:

It should be worth noting that in the 90s, "after hours" when the kids were asleep, they'd run Nick At Nite, reruns of old sitcoms from the 60s and 70s.  That segment's been spun off as the TV Land network.

Never actually. I still like SpongeBob, Fairly Oddparents, and a lot of other Nick shows.

Early to mid 00s I guess. I still watch it occasionally if I'm bored and channel surfing.

Actually it's been around since 1979. 1977 if you count when it was called "Pinwheel".

Oh yeah, and the show on the ranch was called Hey Dude. It was basically one of those shows that was so bad that it was kind of good but I still wouldn't put it among the most important Nick shows.

Pete & Pete quit having new episodes in 1997. They didn't have any really good shows after that.

I'd say that Angry Beavers, which started in '97, was probably the last decent show but even that wasn't exactly anything worth writing home about.

It's pretty hilarious though that the last episode was never aired because it included a pretty blatant swipe at the network in it.

So, what's with the nostalgia trip?

By the way, Marc Summers is the man.  According to the Nostalgia Critic, he had an overwhelming case of OCD, and yet he still subjected himself to horrendously gross gameshows.  All for the art.

Could you imagine being an obsessive neat freak and looking like this:

The last scene in it went something like this:

Norbert: Daggett, what happens when we're...over?
Daggett: Oh don't worry, we'll be on forever!
Norbet: What do you mean?
Daggett: Haven't you heard of reruns?
Norbet: So...what do you mean?
Daggett: Oh we'll be on constantly! The same episodes played over over multiple times a week, at virtually no cost to the network!

Pretty hilarious.

Middle of the decade.

The Angry Beavers and CatDog were both good. It sucked when they axed Invader Zim.

Mid 90s. Last really good show introduced was Rocko's Modern Life.
