What's with people trying to save Obama? He was a terrible nominee. He was headed for an embarrassing defeat in the midst of an otherwise strongly-Democratic year if he hadn't been saved by the financial crisis.

Since it's going to happen anyway, Tilden.  Obama can go next.

I'm more shocked that John Kerry survived until Round 25 myself.

Probably because many of the Democrat hacks here supported him in 2004.

It's either that or the Democrats just have had a ton of boring candidates (if we were to assume they were basing this off of nominee charisma, persuadability, what have you).

I haven't voted for Obama because we're in a survivor on "nominees" and he was a pretty damn good one.

Nobody votes for JFK whereas he should go now: he wasn't a good candidate, he was very disappointing, given his skills, given his opponent, etc.

The election took place after 8 years of a nearly-unanimously popular republican administration, in which Nixon had taken a great place. I doubt that most of democratic candidates would've managed to do better than JFK. Maybe Johnson, but apart from him I really doubt that.

How the hell was Obama a "good nominee"? He sucked and almost lost an easy election for the Dems.

He managed to win great in the primaries.
He won convincingly and didn't "almost lose".
He made the story of the election, not McCain (apart from 3 days after Palin's pick, and then...).

Make no mistake: I'm no fan of Obama and would have voted for the Mac (even with Palin in).

And plus, he had the Catholic albatross around his neck to deal with.

As disadvantaged as Kennedy was, he did pretty good.

I guess I would have to vote Obama.
