I thank Al and Peter for their responses. I had forgotten much of the old budget debate aside for the fact I was very much for the budget and very much against its removal. As far as that budget goes, history has proven me wrong.

I also read with great interest the remarks countering my point that while no budget makes the game unplayable for one end, poorly crafted budget rules can and have worked in the opposite fashion for others. This is an important consideration in this process.

That said, on this measure, as I read it, I am unsure how I will vote. A committee to further explore the process seems inocuous in and of itself BUT as much as I am for budgets generally I remain skeptical if they can work here.

I think I can readily agree that the original model for the budget was severely flawed; however, I do think some new model can work if we devote a few good mind to hashing out a process. I implore the Senate to give it a shot.

I'm glad to see the GM backing this. With the GM chairing the Budget Process Committee, I believe the budget can become an interesting source of increased debate rather than a tiresome burden.

AYE.

With six ayes, one abstention, and three not voting, this has the votes to pass, the waiting period is waived, and is hereby presented to President Afleitch.

x Afleitch

I have no issues with a committee at this stage. However this has to be seen to go somewhere. I want anyone from the Senate who is genuinely interested in being part of this to notify me on the White House board so that I can consider balanced suitable non-Senate appointments too.
