I find this weird - by endorsing somebody for the gubernatorial race (especially with a personal record like Cox has), he's only making enemies for 2012.  Is he betting that Cox wins and might help him beat Romney in 2012, or is this possibly a sign that he's not running?

I like Cox, but I was surprised he did that. I would think he'd just stay out of it. Maybe he is hoping all his picks get in in which case he'll be the top contender for 2012, but that means they've all pretty much have got to get in.

How is Cox doing in the Republican primary so far?

Huckabee has also endorsed Vander Plaats in Iowa, and even appeared to speak before an organization that advocated sitting out the election if Branstad wins the primary:

This is definitely not the sort of thing one would do if one was hoping to curry favor with as much of the Iowa caucus-going base as possible.  I'm thinking that Huckabee looks less and less likely to run in 2012.

Huckabee is a hired man for FOX news.  It is his job to run his mouth, and do it in this sort of way.  There is nothing more to it than that.  Nobody except people who read websites like this will ever care.  Also, rest assured that he will not be a serious candidate for president.  Once one has been a talking head it is all over.  The world of sound bites is endless and one is seen as a political hack.  I think only Al Franken, as a former talk show host, could get away with this and that's only because it was Minnisota.

Oh, one more thing.  Who cares who becomes Michigan's governor.  Who cares what party it is.  This place is a pit since Republican Bill Clinton and the right wing congress of the 1990s signed NAFTA and pushed China as prefered trading partners.  Whoever wins will fall flat on their face.

Him and Pete Hoekstra alternate just about every other poll for the lead.

The fact that he had an affair multiplies the jokes even more.

Isn't Cox polling better in the general than Jokestra?

It really depends on what poll you read.

I actually prefer Cox ironically. Damn you Huck for making my choice here more difficult. Angry

So, you're less likely to support Cox (whom until now you've supported) just because Huckabee supports him?

lol

I said I prefer Cox, not that I support him. I also like Bouchard and Hoekstra.

I only like one candidate in Michigan for Governor, Congressman Pete Hoekstra.

Hoeskstra is pathetic.

Cox will win the nomination — and if the Democrats don't come up with a reasonable fresh candidate, the Michigan governor's mansion will flip to the Republicans (and, specifically, state attorney general Cox).

Trivia Note: With exception of 1990, when John Engler won his first term (he was rumored to be a running mate on Bob Dole's 1996 Republican ticket), for three decades Michigan has been electing a governor from the party not holding the White House. In order: 1982 and 1986 (James Blanchard, D, during Ronald Reagan, R); 1994 and 1998 (Engler, R, with his 2nd and 3rd, during Bill Clinton, D); 2002 and 2006 (Jennifer Granholm, D, during George W. Bush, R). It's pretty damn interesting — what with the pattern in both Virginia and New Jersey producing similar patterns.

I don't like anybody who is or ever will run for MI governor in 2010.  The office is nothing more than a breeding ground for corruption in 2010.  Hughy Long would love this place.  If Granholm could run again, she would easily win a landslide if only with a 2% approval rating.  Once she is gone we will really go down the toilet.  I give her credit for doing what she could, and others (even those on the right) have to realise that she had very little to work with.

Hoekstra's brand of conservatism won't play well anywhere east of MI-03--where more than half of Michigan's population lives. He fits well in MI-02. I don't know why he thinks he'll fit well anywhere else in the state.
