Usually but sometimes the primary can get interesting if a Paul supporter challengers and republican or when Traficant challenges the democrat as an independent but yes in general swing districts are a lot more exiting.

My district is more like MA-08 than the whole state. Obama got almost 88% in the House seat and over 88% in the Senate seat. We're the most Democratic Senate seat in the state and second most Democratic House seat, the only one moreso is our sister district 61B.

Must suck to live in such a hackish environment.

Actually it's part of the reason I moved here

There's nothing hackish about having policy disputes hashed out within your party, rather than between the parties. Somerville, and Massachusetts in general, has had some very dramatic intra-party fights on policy. Republican primaries in Kansas are equally scintillating.

Ottawa-Vanier is. Entrenched incumbent, weak and stupid opponents and the only question being whether or not the Liberals will improve their result on the last election. My new constituency, however, is not as safe though the Liberals are sliding quickly by nominating douches.

How does living in a safe district make national races exciting?

Come on Roch, don't play dumb now. If your area is guaranteed to vote one way or another, it's pretty much a waste of time to get at all involved in the campaign of an opposing candidate.
