The Situation:

1976- The Bicentennial year. After dealing with the two years of the Gerald Ford Administration, with the resignation of Richard Nixon still in America's minds, the public is in the early deciding stages of the 1976 campaign.

On the democratic Side, the field is mixed with Washington outsides, as well as National newcomers.

on the Republican side, President Gerald Ford is looking to be elected to a full term as President, but can an unexpected challenger stop him?

Announcer: This is an NBC News Special report. here is David Brinkley.

Brinkley: Good Afternoon. The Democratic Iowa caucus will be recounted.  Senator Ted Kennedy requested one, and it is US law if the margin of Victory is less than 5% that the person in second place shall demand a re-count. The recount will start sometime today or tomorrow. We will be back with more news when it happens. Have a Good Afternoon.

Brinkly: It now looks that the Recount will be delayed until February 1st. This is a major setback to both democrats.
