Well I don't think they would suceed but it would be intresting. It would liven things up. But I don't think that the Southeast has the desire to start a second Civil War by withdrawing from the Union but you never know. I can see StatesRights saying something like this and starting up some bring back the Confederacy movement.

If the situation arrises, as a senator I will do my best to let the Southeast secede peacefully. Tongue

How could you do that? It would lead to the dissolution of the Union and two countries where the US once stood.

A Federal Union only stands due to the will of its members. The Atlasian Constitution does not forbid secession, neither does the american one.
But of course, Ernest will not secede, so no problem. Smiley

I would hope that the Southeast will remain part of the Union. The area and it's citizens are great assests to this great nation and I cannot see it functioning the same without them.

I am not advocating secession and it would take a far worse government in Nyman than any that has been seated there, even worse than any that has been seated there when it was known as Washington under the United States to cause me to adopt such a radical position.  Nor have I become a wild-eyed proponent of Calhounian nullification.  What I do reject is the idea that the Regions are subordinate to the Senate.  If the Senate wishes to ban the Regions from undertaking certain activities, it will need to pass an Amendment to our Constitution, not just simply pass a law.

We would have to amend the Constitution to include Region 6 I believe.

I came up with a possible 6-region map yesterday, with each state having 20-21 members:

How likely is this one? It would require a constitutional amendment, true.

Districts are by population. Regions are by # of states.

Let the Southeast secede so long as we can become our own republic again.
