Senators.

I am sending this bill back to the Senate with the recommendation that Section 8.1 is amended to make the candidacy declaration deadline for regular elections to the Senate be seventy two hours

I feel it is still necessary to maintain a difference in declaration times for regular and senate elections (currently 7 days vs 2)

What do you mean 7 vs 2? They're both 1 day right now...?

I'm going by this

https://uselectionatlas.org/AFEWIKI/index.php/Consolidated_Electoral_System_Reform_Act

 Section 8: Candidacy Declarations

1. The candidacy declaration deadline for regular elections to the Senate shall be seven days before the earliest possible commencement of the election and for special elections to the Senate shall be two days before the commencement of the election.

Afleitch, you're confusing the hell out of me.  Legislation passed in December- during your tenure as a Senator- established all declaring deadlines at 24 hours.  Which is where everything stays if we pass nothing.

That is the original act. The first amendment already changed Section 8, and my amendment would alter it further. It sounds like you're acting as if the original act is still in force, which it is not.
