Interestingly enough, our friend Mr. Meyers (who was indeed real, though inflated) is already up to some shenanigans in Gainesville: http://www.alligator.org/news/campus/article_f464bd2e-2104-11df-820b-001cc4c03286.html Read down to the bottom of the article.  If fantasy elections aren't trivial enough for fraud, neither are campus elections, amusingly enough.

He died? Wow. I don't know if you want to share anything about it, Nym, since you're the only one who knew him personally.

Wow, that's going a long way back. Sad to hear, too.

I was once on a forum where someone got attacked by hostile natives, 19th Century style, in Borneo I think. In hospital for a couple of weeks, almost died but didn't.

Yeah. He wasn't in the best of health when he posted here, if you remember (though it was a while ago). Sad.

Well, yeah, I knew that, but still. Unexpected. I used to talk to him quite a bit back then. RIP.

He had a degenerative heart condition, though he actually died of an apparent stroke according to his sister. I hadn't spoken to him much in the last few years unfortunately.
