India?  Now, remind me of which part of of india is most affected by the north atlantic.  Is it Goa or Hyderabad?  I always forget.  Wink

NATO shouldn't be an exclusively north Atlantic alliance any longer.  It has outlived its original purpose and needs expansion to sustain its viability.

Expanding NATO would be the only way to provide a legitimate hedge against a growing communist China.  The US can handle such a burden as of right now, but soon China will pass us economically and eventually militarily.  Russia is a de facto NATO ally right now, and India is a growing economic powerhouse.  Having strong ties to them through NATO would make sense.

We should expel the French (they really don't want to be part of NATO anyway), include the majority of the old Soviet Block, and snatch up Russia and India while we can.  A future US couldn't afford a Sino-Russian or Sino-Indian alliance.
