What GOP candidate can defeat Obama?

Okay, list the individual that you believe is able to defeat Obama in 2012.
My pick is General Petraeus. I don't think he will run, but then again, he can say he had to do it for the country he loves and has sacrificed his life for. It might just pan out.
Furthermore, the GOP needs someone that hasn't flip flopped like a fish out of water and one that is not tied to congress in any way. It really has to be an outsider to hammer down the Washington inside the belt way democrats and the President.
I realize many of you will say that the era of the Gen. as President is over. However, I am starting to see a resurgence due to someone like Petraeus.

While Obama was snorting coke and memorizing Marx, Romney was out there helping people and building success.

Huckabee and Daniels. Gary Johnson, too, but I
highly
doubt they'll nominate him.

Someone like Snowe or Collins could win if they chose a very conservative VP, in my opinion.

President Obama would have to sabotage himself for any Republican nominee to defeat him. He just has too many political strengths.

Huh, apparently those political strengths have been in mothballs for the past year and a half.

And the Republican Party has already sabotaged itself. Even if we should double dip, the GOP has handed Obama's re-election campaign- as Sarah would say- enough ammo to return fire: record-shattering use of the filibuster, transparent obstruction for what the public sees as political reasons, cynical and easy-to-point-out hypocrisy, and a distasteful rejection of civility for incendiary hyperbole that's having some ugly consequences. This is without even knowing what the specific vulnerabilities the Republican nominee will end up having. As for the unimpressive field to choose him or her from, it tells you something when, in a discussion about what Republican could beat Obama, the first name thrown out is a guy who gave a Shermanesque statement the day before that he'd never run for office. And he might not even be a Republican.

Both of you are so right. Heck, the Republican Party should just quit, it's obvious we cannot beat The Great One. I mean, yeah, polls show our candidates within the margin of error. And it is true that his approval ratings keep getting worse and worse, and the economy still hasn't recovered. But we'd just be wasting our time and money by trying to defeat The Great One.

Almost
any
Republican Senator who had voted for HCR legislation would have had a significant chance to win in 2012 against Barack Obama.
Wise money figures 2016 at the least now.
