If you were Romney's chief strategist, what would you advise him to do about his healthcare reform in Massachusetts? Should he embrace it and accept that Obama's plan was largely good? Should he distance himself from it? Thoughts?

Remember, this is what he should do to win the Republican primary, not what you personally think he should do.

Distance himself from it because he wouldn't get a single endorsment if he agreed with it.

Considering Romneycare, and the video proof of his prevoius support of federal mandates, I'd tell him to aviod it at all costs. Don't adress it, don't touch it. Ignore the issue completely, and if forced to adress it... stick fingers in ears and sing loudly to himself.

He should support the Republican Ideology on economy and stress it everyday as well as emphasize his business background.  Although, he probably thinks the Republican economic position is simple-minded.

Blame it on the Democrats in the Massachusetts State Senate/House? I dunno.

Partially, and too some extent this could work. Primarily, stress the differences, but avoid it if at all possible. Offer a clear, concise plan of what he would do nationally, to reduce concerns of him supporting an individual mandate at the Federal Level.

Focus primarily on the economy and job creation.

Reveal that until his gubernatorial midterm, he was inprisoned by his evil Liberal twin, so you can't really blame him!

He can't run from it...it'll be hanged (hung?) around his neck by the other GOP candidates.  He either reinforces the Flip-Flop Romney image or he stands firm and owns it.  Knowing Romney, he chooses to reinforce the Flip-Flop "I'll believe whatever's convenient today" Romney image.  I think it's the worse of two bad calls.

Assuming there's no solid vote for repeal, talk about what he would do to make it better in Republican eyes, and let the rest alone.

Focus on social issues and go after Obama's questionble birth, which makes his presedency illegal.

Defend the states rights aspect of it without getting into specifics about the mandate. "At least I didn't violate the Constitution I swore to uphold."

Focus on the fact that a bill like it works on a state level, but would/will fail nationally. If that fails, blame it on the Democrats.

He would have to get into the specifics of the mandate.

Own up to the mistake (putting a solid chunk of the blame on the Democratic legislative supermajority), hit Obama for not learning from the mistake, and insist his experience in creating the model gives him unique insight as to how to fix and turn around the ugly beast passed by the Senate.
