I used to think Bill O'Reilly was a hack.  The man was really a wonderful, witty, sensible conservative.

I apologize to him.  I wish people would watch him more instead of Beck.

Bill may have been out-crazied by Beck, but he's still crazy.

lol O'Reilly is interviewing a black member of a Tea Party who says there aren't many blacks in the tea party because "BLACK PEOPLE DON'T LIKE TO RALLY!"

I guess he's never heard of the million man march.

Sorry for these threads guys.  I'm just in love with watching FOX News these days.

Or the entire civil rights movement.

(Trust me, most African-Americans would rather remember this than the Million Man March.)

Not really. They're both awful in their own special ways.

I've always suspected that that was why FOX hired Beck.  O'Reilly could not move an inch and seem more reasonable overnight.

Two different styles and demeanors.  O'Reilly is actually an intelligent, eloquent, and combative arguer who occasionally goes off the deep end.  Glenn Beck is just batsh**t crazy.

Beck is a smarter version of Limbaugh.    Ive always thought of him as a typical republican ( angry white man) who decided that he could make money by playing on that anger.  The smart part , is unlike Rush hes able to come off as being intelligent and somewhat of a libertarian ( wouldn't seem so right winged).

No.  Just because Beck is even more bat s*** crazy it doesn't make O'Reilly any less of a moron.

If American liberals were intelligent, which nobody has ever claimed, they'd look at the obvious vast gulf between what the two represent on a great many issues, point it out, exacerbate it, and run with it.

Not really, no. Remember, FOX is a propaganda network and as such must cover all of the bases of its art. Beck is there to scare people sh**tless, O'Reilly is there to warp their now fragile minds with more eloquently posed positions and a calmer demeanor. The shows come on in the order that they do for a reason. So, in other words, both Beck and O'Reilly are both just core operating functions that would be present in any half decent propaganda machine.

They are hard to compare because their acts are a bit different. Beck is more in the Olbermann category, i.e., he does not even pretend that he is much of anything but a circus act. O'Reilly tries to be a bit more substantive sometimes, and of those sometimes, even manages to occasionally succeed.

I never understood the O'Reilly hate. From what I've seen, he's biased but not crazy or anything.

They're both bad. Bill O' Reilly is a big leprechaun and Glenn Beck is a Nazi Idiot.

He's arguably the biggest warmonger on FOX at the moment. One thing I will give to Glenn Beck is that he actually sticks to some sort of personal ideological viewpoint, no matter how idiotic it is, neocons like Sean Hannity and Bill O' Reilly have none, and their only viewpoints come from whatever the party platform is.

Beck isn't really a fair parallel of Olbermann.  If Olbermann has a parallel, it'd be Hannity, but since I view Olbermann to be at least ideologically consistent as opposed to a partisan hack, that's not really fair either.   Hannity, from what I remember, always seemed to back Bush, even when Bush got behind moderate [immigration] or deficit-spending policies, but my memory is really hazy and I don't care that much, so if anyone wants to correct me, go ahead.

Beck has no insane, b&#(#it crazy, conspiratorial, extremist parallel in the MSM talking heads.

I think Chris Matthews is really the parallel of O'Reilly, they both have the blue-collar "looking out for the little guy while at the same time incredibly pompous" vibe.

I don't think any of them actually, say, conduct an interview with someone who they disagree with and learn something, as, say, Jon Stewart does.
