Anyone else want Sununu in 2012? I thought he was a typical wingnut until my friend showed me more about him, now I really like him.

The young Sununu, right?  You really can't come back from being crushed the way he was and run from not being a current officeholder to the Presidency.  (Nixon doesn't count, he'd been VP)  Besides, America would never elect a skinny kid with a funny name to the Presidency.

Sununu wasn't crushed, and I don't think comebacks are impossible. After all, people are throwing that idiot Santorum's name around and he got crushed way worse.

Keystone Phil was a really crappy predictor, believe me.

Santorum was a national figure.  Sununu wasn't.  If Sununu wanted to make a comeback, he should focus on getting his old seat back in 2014 (he's still very young, so it's a plausible route for him).

In any case, you can forget about Sununu in 2012.

There's a lot of people I want to be president that could never win.  Seems silly to speculate too much on it.

If he had won re-election, I think he would have been the slam dunk nominee in 2012.

Yes, this.

The way his situation stands now, he will not run until at least 2016.

Robert Smith would run as the Consitution candidate in that scenario (He appearently dropped out of the Senate race in FL due to lack of funding, lol)

I like Sununu, if the GOP were more like him, they would be in a lot better condition, despite that fact that he himself lost. He still did well, compared to how far down he was initially. Had he had more time and better environment I think he could have pulled it out narrowly in 2008.

I thought that was the NRSC and the NH GOP behind that.

I think he could still run. If he did he would be a great candidate minus the loss to Sheenan.

Who really cares if someone lost a race?

Especially in a year like 2008.

I like Sununu a lot actually, I was sad to see him lose his seat. He was definitely one of the better Republicans in the Senate. Maybe somebody can pick him to run for VP in 2012 and then he can run in 2016 with the proper name ID...

I share your sentiments... He needs to get his name out there somehow but definitely deserves a chance.

If Sununu had won in 08, his 12 prospects still wouldn't be great because we'd have no healthcare reform and Romney's position would be more secure.
