God yes! Why do those stupid things keep getting made?

Why not just make it something like "Excellent/Good/Fair/Poor/Awful"? Boom one more option, true symmetry and a good way to distinguish approve/disapprove instead of the nonsense of putting fair in with disapprove.

Not nearly as much as your retarded 'Freedom Fighter / Horrible Person' polls.

I'm hardly the only one who makes them.

The governing politician who can be accurately described as merely "poor" rather than execrable is a rare (though not unheard of) beast, so these polls always leave me a little stumped.

I don't see those polls so much anymore, though I always have wondered how anyone could think that the average person would use "fair" to mean "disapprove".

They are lopsided.  You have two positives, a mediocre, and a negative....

Why not just say "on a scale of 1-5" or "1-10" or

Excellent
Good
Fair
Poor
Bad

The trouble with an odd number of choices is that you get little sense of opinion from those fence straddlers who vote the middle option. No opinion should be an option for these folks, but if you have an opinion even numbers work better.

Yes. As PiT said, "fair" should not be used to mean "disapprove".

Multi-Choice questions are, by their very nature, nauseatingly stupid.
