Yes. I suspect that when Census workers come knocking we'll hear tons of stories of teabagger idiots making threats, which will result in them ending up in jail where they belong.

You don't have to make polls about every ridiculous thing you hear.

What's the point you're trying to make here?

That the so-called "teabaggers" who you and your lefty friends so despise are almost an exact cross-section of America.

There's not much of a difference between self-identified tea party members and Adults 18+, according to Gallup.  The education level of "teabaggers" is almost exactly the same as the rest of the population - as is their age and employment status.  The only statistically significant difference seems to be race - fewer "teabaggers" are black.

When you hate on the "teabaggers", you hate on America.  It's not a smart thing to do politically, which is why Obama is smart enough not to totally alienate the group.  And your nonsensical hatred of the "teabaggers" rings hollow - starting with the disgusting sexual slur that you use to describe the movement.

In simple terms: FAIL

Just because the tea partiers are mainstream in their demographics does not mean that they are mainstream in their ideology or socio-economic status, as these charts from that same Gallup article points out:

The tea party is a conservative movement?  Duh!  More tea partiers are self-described Republicans and Independents?  Duh!  More tea partiers are male?  Yeah, so are conservatives and Republicans - no shock there.

But tea partiers are slightly richer than average Americans?  I thought they were a bunch of dumb, government-hating, America-hating, unemployed poors who want to fly airplanes into buildings and join Christian militias (*cough* the only militia member who had a party status was a Democrat *cough*).

Face facts - tea partiers are a cross-section of America by age, educational status and employment status, and pretty close on socioeconomic status.  But they're slightly more male and less black.

Extremist meme FAIL.

As far as I'm concerned Tea Partys are a bunch of morons who want to fight for Corporate rights and reduce people's and state's rights to seek redress for damages.  The Republican Party has taken a movement that was anti-corruption and anti-war as well as in favor of a balanced budget and turned it into a laughable propaganda campaign for big oil and insurance companies.  Their purpose is to say anything in order to get rid of Obama and see what sticks.

Cynic, just because a group is demographically similar to the population at large, does not mean their ideology is not extreme.

"Teabag supporters" aren't teabaggers. Just a hint. When BRTD says teabaggers, he's talking about the ones who go to protests, meetings, and are members of militias. He's not talking about mainstream GOP members who sympathize with the teabaggers.

Cynic, just because a group is demographically similar to the population at large, does not mean their ideology is not extreme.

If a movement that 48% of Americans thinks holds views closer to their own than President Obama is extreme, then I don't know what extreme is.  (Only 44% think their views are closer to Obama than the average tea partiers).

Overarching meme FAIL.

Lief has never made that distinction.  And the overwhelming majority of tea party members who go to protests and meetings are NOT members of militias.

Again - the political affiliation of the only Christian militia member who stated a preference was DEMOCRAT, not Tea Party or Republican.

I don't care what distinction Lief made.

I'm not sure what you're talking about there. There are hundreds of far-right militias. I'm sure there are some disillusioned, former Democrats that are members of these far-right militias. There are even teabaggers running as Democrats in some traditional, working class districts.

LOL at you sir. It's very funny to claim that Tea Partiers are up Big Business's skirts even when Obama and the Democrats are selling out to big pharmacies. Even going as far as to make backroom deals with them, while so called "morons" and "corporate stooges" were outside protesting.

I know you've made it your hobby to call people below you trash and ridicule them for standing up for what they believe it, but stop being such an elitist prick. You did the same things with a blue avatar as well.

The Republican Party has taken a movement that was anti-corruption and anti-war as well as in favor of a balanced budget

Really? You're supposing the Republicans have taken control of the Tea Partiers? Most people would suggest the opposite. I'd definitely like to see you back this claim up.

big oil and insurance companies.

Really? As of recently it was Obama who has sold out to both Big Oil and Big Insurance.

Their purpose is to say anything in order to get rid of Obama and see what sticks.

...point being?

Just because a political movement is close-ish to being demographically average does not mean that that movement cannot be extremist. Whether the tea party movement (a name that leads to amusing mental images involving little girls, placards and tiny saucers, but I digress) is or is not extreme has nothing to do with its social composition.

So brilliant have the teabaggers been in greatly improving the entertainment value of "The US politics show" that I think they deserve some recognition. I mean let's face it - everyone loves a bad guy - and for us enlightened souls what could be better to sneer at then a group of the most crusty bourgeois types who rant about taxes, have obvious issue about race and treat Alice in Wonderland as a classic in social realism and a political tract (Thinking of it, the GOP as Mad Hatter metaphor is apt on at least a few levels, who's the march hare?) - no autoscript could think of an enemy that unimaginatively. We are clearly such intelligent people us intellectuals for opposing the teabaggers.

Since when is attending rallies and marches a bad thing? Oh I get it, its only acceptable when its calling for surrender in the War in Iraq and Acorn demanding banks become welfare agencies.
