It certainly isn't as tasty as AMERICAN potato salad - full of mayonnaise and eggs!

There certainly is no such thing as a potato salad recipe that could be described as "the" German Potato Salad, and anyone pretending otherwise is just trying to brainrape you, so I'm at a perfect loss as to what you are talking about.

I had to google it as well and according to some sources the "German Potato Salad" originated from southern Poland. The actual potato salad Germans eat often contains mayonnaise of course.

I like potato salad. In my region it is not usual to make it with mayonnaise, but it gives the version to put sausage salad (and this salad is made with mayonnaise) into the potato salad.

The best wurstsalat I had didn't have mayo in it... it was just wurst, onions, and a vinegar/oil sauce.

I generally don't like mayonnaise... and I don't like eggs in a salad.

And this is all very timely because I'm making potato salad for supper tonight!
