We should have worked with Fidel when we had the chance.  Castro greatly admired the United States before they tried to kill him 30 times.

Only if it meant liberation for Cuba. I'll tell you what I wouldn't have minded going there instead of Iraq but Iraq, that liberated even more people. Those Cubans would be better off as the 51st state.

How come Ike didn't take out Fidel?

He didn't pose a threat or a chance of becoming strong. My mom's uncle was in the Bay of Pigs Crisis and still frustrates over not taking out Fidel Castro.
