I just bet £5 that Kerry will win Mississippi. If hell freezes over I stand to make a lot of money.

Well thats £5 wasted. But at least I'm having fun. You should all chill out a bit. And waste a fiver like I did.

What odds were you getting for that one?

I can't imagine a natural disaster that would affect only the white people in Mississippi, so I guess you lost.  But sounds fun.

You should have taken MS going to Kerry, if they give you 15 or 20 points

Current trading on Tradesports would turn that £5 into a little over £84 if that were to happen.

Longest odds on Tradesports would be Texas, at about 24:1.  That would turn £5 into £120.  Hmm, if I'm betting on Texas I'd rather take the other end of that and turn my £5 and turn it into £5.10.  (Hey, that's a 2% return in 5 days time...and annualized 337% return!)

That's a lot of books :-)
And the bookie I placed the bet with gave longer odds :-)

According to campaignline.com, Bush is 3 to 1 to win Mississippi.  I would need better odds than that to waste $7.50 (forgive me for guessing and not looking up the current exchange rate) on a Kerry win there.

<Waves the BS flag>  3:1?  I'll lay 6-to-1 for up to $60,000 to those folks at campaignline.com, if they want to take me up on it.  They're getting double pot odds on my 6-to-1 offer.  It's a good deal, if they believe it's really 3:1.
